The core themes of my artistic practice are guided by nostalgia and the realities of universal
trauma. I draw from past events and static images of my history to evoke longing and reflection,
while also exploring my recovery and neurodivergence; including how one affects the other. I
focus on the healing and resilience that living within societal barriers brings by creating art with
bright, eclectic colors and strong mark-making.
Home, or its absence, recurs as a motif in my current work. Whether physical or emotional, I
explore the complexities of belonging, identity, and displacement. “Architectural Imperfections”,
the title of my ongoing series, symbolizes this journey by exploring the cracks and distortions of
structures to reveal vulnerability's beauty and imperfection's strength. I scan and photograph
these real-world cracks to incorporate in collages that share the intricacies of struggling with
emotion. I primarily use mixed-media and fibers, including my photos printed on fabric, to
reflect the layered complexity of our shared struggles of mentality and physicality. The interplay
of textures and colors embodies the tension between fragility and resilience, chaos and
harmony.
I also integrate video elements to create immersive experiences that build these deeper
connections and introspection. This multimedia approach strengthens the viewers engagement
with my work and invites personal reflection.
Overall, my artistic practice is one of exploration and expression, seeking to bridge my personal
stories to society at large. My work aims to be a contribution of healing and understanding in
our world and to foster a space for exploratory conversation.
